If you want to lose weight fast, it is my duty to remind you that real weight loss is a journey.
In order to make permanent changes in your waistline, you have to (surprise, surprise) make permanent changes in how you usually eat.
But sometimes a quick win can jumpstart these longer-range habits.
So here are 5 tips to help get you started losing weight fast:
1. Cut back on refined carbs.
Refined carbs are carbohydrates that have their nutrients and fiber stripped away during processing:
- White flour products
- Sugar and sugared drinks
- Breakfast cereals
- White rice
Not only are refined carbs high in calories and low in nutrients, they’re absorbed quickly into your bloodstream, causing blood sugar spikes and increased hunger.
Get your carbs from vegetables, fruits, and whole grains (like quinoa, brown rice, oats, and whole wheat).
2. Set out your portions.
It’s almost guaranteed that you’ll overeat if you eat from a bag, package, or serving dish.
Before you begin eating, lay out your portion on a plate or bowl.
3. Don’t drink your calories.
Skip the sodas, energy drinks, and sugar-laden coffee-choco-ccinos.
Drink water or mineral water instead.
4. Eat a high-protein breakfast.
Increasing your intake of morning protein can help you lose weight by reducing your appetite and keeping your energy high.
Eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, breakfast ham, or a whey protein shake are easy ways to get protein first thing in the morning.
5. Slow Down!
Gobbling your food down is a sure way to:
- Not enjoy it.
- Eat too many calories before your brain has a chance to know you’ve had enough.
Slowing down and listening to your body will decrease your food intake, and enhance your feeling of fullness.
You’ll eat less.
Plus, you might actually get a chance to enjoy what you’re eating!
